John M. Szefc is a longtime veteran of the media and journalism industries, and has successfully facilitated over 100 mergers or acquisitions of newspaper and magazine companies over the course of his extensive career.

Over 5o Years of Experience

John is the former president, publisher, general manager, and editor of the Times Herald-Record in Middletown, New York where he worked for 30 years, beginning in 1965 as a sports writer, and later assistant sports editor and assistant managing editor.

He began his career as an auditor for the Wall Street public accounting firm of Haskins & Sells, today Deloitte, after graduating from Syracuse University, spending over two years performing audits of diversified companies.

John is both a founding director of the Orange County Partnership and a former chairman of the board. He was also a past chair of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce as well as the Greater Hudson Valley Coordinating Council, and served as chairman of the New York Newspaper Publishers Association.

Since 1999, John has applied his experience in journalism and accounting as a media broker both independently, and alongside reputable firms such as Grimes, McGovern & Associates of New York, at which he worked for over 20 years.

A lifetime resident of Orange County, New York, John resides in Goshen with his wife Dorothy to whom he has been married for over 50 years.
